Phaius Tankervilleae

North-East India, famous for its lush greenery and abundance of flora and fauna, is blessed with the beauty of some very rare floral species, especially orchids. The climate of the north-east region is ideal for orchids, making it home to almost 70 percent of the world's orchids. Of around 1700 species of orchids found in India, about 800 are found in the northeastern states. These exquisite orchids will definitely fascinate you with their riot of heavenly colors. Habitat loss, pollution, introduction of exotic species, over exploitation, commercialization of agriculture and forestry are the primary reasons for the loss of orchid diversity today. Let's conserve these wonderful gems of nature that enhance the beauty of our region.
