River Dolphins of Brahmaputra Notebook
Gangetic Dolphins or fresh water Dolphins thrive in the still relatively unpolluted water of the river Brahmaputra in Assam. Also called Hihu in the local dialect, these water borne creatures are immensely shy and have unpredictable quick movements. The sightings of these freshwater mammals are rare and they have a quick way of vanishing beneath the surface of the water before one can capture the sight into a frame. The next time you are in Assam, take time out to catch a sight of these friendly animals which also happen to be the country’s National Aquatic Animal.
